Learn how to tie the D-Rib Pig Sticker
Following suit with my inability to leave well enough alone, I wanted to see if I could fly in the face of convention and modesty once more and simplify a cornerstone pattern. Having already settled on a “better” midge design by using fine ribbing on a small hook to better imitate the segmentation of midge larvae, I was curious to see if the idea could be scaled up to worm size. 1 hook, a thin thread base, several tight wraps of D-Rib, and a minute or two later I had something resembling a little worm with a minimum of time and materials invested. As long as your whip finishes hold true, it’s hard for me to think of a more durable assembly of materials. Slide a few of these in red and brown into the slots of your junk box right next to your Squirmies and San Juans and let them see some action. You may well be surprised at the fish it brings to hand in the most unlikely of places. Yeah, I’m looking at you, Decker’s!
