How to tie a Frenchie Chironomid
The second half of the standard stillwater perscription, don’t let your leech pattern hang out lonely without it’s chironomid buddy. For this Egan pattern we leave the Hanak 400 jig hook in it’s box, reach for the down eye Hanak 230 and trade a tail for sparkle yarn gills. The rest is the Frenchie that we (and the fish) all know and love. Double hot spot in true Egan fashion gives this bug that extra little something that compel the fish to take a bite. Feel free to tie it on a hook with a longer shank to give it traditional chironomid proportions. And as I always say, if it’s good enough for a member of team USA, it’s good enough for me.
