How to tie a Knumbskull Caddis
The Knumbskull Caddis was birthed out of the desire for simplicity. I really love the fishability and bin appeal of flies like the Kryptonite Caddis and Nitro Caddis. Tying these, however, can be a bit of a commitment. It could be my desire for efficiency or simply laziness, but I found myself wanting something easier. I had been playing around with the Perdijig hook and insta jig / bomb beads. Paring these with the Hareline Chenille and a little dubbing collar is quick and gets the job done. I really like the way the chenille looks burnt. I find that slight differences can be achieved regarding color shade and the final body diameter. With the largely oversized bead, this fly is deadly on a Euro rig or in high water when the caddis start to make their emergence.
