How to tie The Quasimodo Copper John
In this week’s episode of Tying Tuesdays, watch as Brady Laher ties the Quasimodo Copper John! We all know and love the good old Copper John. One of the many fly tying contributions from John Barr. This pattern was developed by John between 1993 and 1996. The original was tied on a 2x long hook with a straight shank (TMC 5262). Due to its success, this fly has been tied in numerous variations since. The variant tied here is simply taking advantage of a curved shank hook on the Tiemco 2488H. This gives the pattern a slightly different profile with a nice wide gape. It is still a wonderful attractor pattern that can imitate a wide array of nymph/larva staged aquatic insects. With the way the Copper John puts fish in the net, why not have a range of options available in your box?
