How to tie Crystal Soft Hackle

How to tie the Crystal Soft Hackle:

Fall is in the air! Crisp morning, black coffee, and swinging wet flies on a good ‘ol trout stream. This is a fantastic time of year when the weather starts to cool down and the fishing can be on point. This week we bring back a somewhat traditional style of fly called The Crystal Soft Hackle which is a modernized classic. This swung fly is a great option when swinging bugs. Whether you are fishing with a single or two-handed rod this bug deserves to be tied on. It is a lightweight soft hackle that has all the right stuff. Most of the materials are good old classic naturals but the body has been updated to utilize Ice Dubbing. This little touch brings the fly into the 21st century while not sacrificing its fishability. The Crystal Soft Hackle was designed to be fished for Steelhead but works just as well in the Rockies for all other types of trout. Fish it on a Scandi rig with a traditional swing or incorporate it into your single hand indicator right and let it swing out on the end of a dead drift. The upswing presentation will encourage some tight line takes that will make you want to fish it every time you are on the water.
