How to Tie Bloom’s Optic Nerve

“Is it a Euro fly or a Swung fly? Both! Tight Line nymphing and Single Hand Spey have become popular techniques for chasing trout on the fly. Bloom’s Optic Nerve is a great bug for both situations. This fly works great bottom bouncing when tight line nymphing and fits the bill well when in need of a heavier soft hackle on a single-hand Scandi setup. On top of this, don’t be afraid to hang it under an indicator. The soft hackle provides excellent movement while the bead and jigged hook help it ride close to the bottom without getting snagged up. This bug is going to become your newest confidence fly.”

  1. Soft hackles jig nymphs have definitely caught more fish for me over the past year. I’ll have to try this one too … tight-line nymphing of course.
