Happy Fly Tying Friday! Learn how to tie the Pueblo Emerger fly! It’s small, but the fish oh so love it!
The Pueblo Emerger is a Blue Winged Olive Mayfly Emerger pattern developed for the Arkansas River Tailwater in Pueblo, Colorado. It’s a basic and life like Blue Winged Olive imitation and has no flash or bead. This was done on purpose. The Pueblo Emerger is best tied without these additions, at least for the area in which it was developed for. It can also be tied with an olive or brown body, although the orange body is my favorite!
For a long time, we have wanted to create some functional performance apparel that people could wear while enjoying their favorite activities. Finally, after a ton of planning, research, and meetings, AvidMax is proud to launch our 1st edition AvidMax Apparel!
We partnered with Ouray Sportswear (pronounced “Ooo-ray”), a local company based out of Denver, to create our very first apparel line, and we are so glad we did! Ouray has been making clothing since 1965, and we have found their quality and comfort level to be excellent. We are proud to pass that experience and quality to you.
We brought in a selection of different pieces: men’s shirts, women’s shirts, performance long sleeve shirts, hats, and a super comfy hoody to complete the collection!
Review: “I’ve been tying for a month now and knew right away that I wanted to invest in a durable vise that I can use for years to come. After reading some of the online reviews, I was drawn to the Montana Mongoose. Really loving it. The grip on the hook is very sturdy. I have yet to have a hook come off the vise (unless it breaks off!). Love the material holder, bobbin cradle, different base option, and of course, the rotation option. Definitely, will recommend it!” Continue reading “Griffin Montana Mongoose Product Review Winner!”
Review: “In my very humble and uneducated opinion this box is great looks and feels very sturdy and durable, lots of space for anything from tiny flies to my preference larger bulky streamers. Fits all needs, checks all boxes. Thanks AvidMax staff for being helpful and pleasant.” Continue reading “Cliff Beast Fly Box Product Review Winner!”
Rating: “Light weight roller duffel” 4 out of 5 stars!
Review: “This is the lightest roller duffel of this size that I have found. My only criticism is that rolling this bag is slightly more difficult than the hard bottom roller bags that have extendable handles but these are usually around 10 lbs vs the 3.5 lbs that this bag weighs.” Continue reading “Fishpond Bumpy Road Duffle Product Review Winner!”
Rating: “Rough puppy. Tough leash” 5 out of 5 stars!
Review: “We have a 6month old puppy who is testing his boundaries with leash walking still, so a secure clip and strong attachment are important qualities for us to have in our product. We have recently started loose leash training and were in the market for a 6ft. I liked that this leash could be hand or waist held, had a short walking option and strong manufacturing. All of the reviews I read gave me a positive feeling and that has continued since we got the product and started using it. One feature that I wasn’t looking for but has been nice for me is the padded hand grip. I haven’t used it around the waist yet, but I can imagine that the padding with increase the comfort in that function.” Continue reading “Ruffwear Flat Out Leash Product Review Winner!”
Review: “I received this as a Christmas gift and I have been out on the river twice with it. I like how it is the only tool I need on my lanyard. All of the tools that I have used function as they should. I tried to cut some heavy mono – 40 pound with the nippers and they would not cut it, but it has no problem with smaller size tippet that is used in fly fishing. I am very happy with this product.” Continue reading “Walton’s Thumb Product Review Winner!”
Review: “I have an original Buff Puff and decided to give a Polar Buff as a Christmas gift to my husband. He’s really happy with it. He’s worn it primarily as a neck gaiter — with the black polartec showing or with the red Buff Puff showing. Very comfortable and soft. Excellent insulation. Fabrics are very high quality.” Continue reading “Polar Buff Product Review Winner!”
Hi AvidMax fly tyers! Learn how to tie this ridiculously small yet deadly fly!
The Tron Emerger is a simple and extremely effective mayfly emerger/nymph pattern developed by James Spicer. It can be tied in several color variations with Olive, Brown and Black being the most effective colors. It is also tied entirely with one material called Zlon (or Antron as a substitute). As this material is twisted to make the body and thorax, it develops perfect segmentation and a semi-translucence effect. This is the key to the pattern and it is very effective on picky trout!!
