Often times during the holidays we lose sight of what it’s all really about: a time to be thankful for all that we have, and a time to give. We are extremely thankful for the business that we have been blessed with. This year is our 11th anniversary, and we have a larger team as well as many new brands and the privilege to serve many new and returning customers. We are so appreciative of our customers, vendors, and manufacturers we do business with. So, with a grateful spirit in this season of giving, we want to do a contest where you get a chance to give something. We did this GIVEaway last year and were so impressed by the thoughtfulness of everyone’s submissions that we decided to do it again.

  1. Hello everyone. Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

We have chosen a nominee! But first, we wanted to thank everyone that nominated someone this year. We enjoyed reading each and every one of your posts and wish you and your nominee’s the best this Christmas and holiday season!

So, after much deliberation by our whole AvidMax Team we have decided on…Anna Feliciano’s son, Mark. Congrats! We hope this gift blesses you and your family!

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Holidays!! From Curt & the whole AvidMax team

    1. Thank you so much, Curt! I am honored that my son, Mark, has been chosen!! Happy Holidays to you and everyone at AvidMax!

      Anna

  2. I would love to nominate my husband Greg, He lives and breaths flyfishing hiking and camping. He works at a ski resort in the winter and usually works 7 days a week for 3 to 4 months solid. Come March first the plans start happening for hes first fishing trip. I think that the only thing that gets him though the winter. He plans a week long trip. and doing the summer he going fishing and camping every chance he can.

  3. I’d like to nominate my boyfriend Joe. We live in NYC and our neighborhood is being transformed by four big construction sites. It’s very busy and loud during the day and our dog is afraid to go out. She wakes up at 3:30 in the morning, sometimes 4:00 a.m. when we’re lucky, ready to play. She’s high energy so Joe gets up in the middle of the night and takes her to the dog run for an hour so she can get her exercise. He’s been doing this for two years, whether it’s raining, snowing, icy or hot. He’d probably like a Huckama, which is our dog’s favorite! I’d add a Patagonia Men’s Medium Long Sleeve Fjord Flannel in navy blue to keep him warm since it’s winter.

  4. I nominate Jason R. who completed active duty in the USN with extensive deployments and is now an IT network engineer helping folks by securing their IT infrastructure. I’d nominate him because he’s got a wonderful work ethic, and he’s always ensuring that everyone (and their networks) are safe and “good to go.” How about a men’s large Marmot PreCip Jacket for this winter holiday season? Thank you for your consideration.

  5. I nominate my son, Brandon. He is an EMT in Chicago who puts in 60 hour work weeks taking care of others leaving very little time for himself and with all that work he is barely scraping by since EMTs make minimum wage. He would love any of your camping or outdoor gear since he plans to work and hike throughout New Zealand next year.

  6. I nominate my husband, Kyle, he and my boys go camping almost once a month! What a great person to be teaching these boys what the outdoors is all about. I’m sure anything for the camping department would be appreciated.

  7. tj deserves a gift. he’s my husband and he works hard for our family, supporting us financially and loving my children as his own. he only has off on christmas this month and i would love for him to have a nice gift. he’d probably get himself a new coat (or i hope he will!!!)

  8. I nominate my best friend and mentor John Fischer. John is a veteran and retired federal law enforcement official who has taken me under his wing to teach me fly fishing, fly tying, and much more. He is a model citizen who always thinks of others before himself, tirelessly helps those in need, and volunteers with numerous fly fishing programs. I would not be where I am today if were not for him. John would be interested in anything fly fishing or fly tying related.

  9. I would just like to nominate my cousin Charlie.

He is the hardest working person I know and never lets me get stuck in a rut in my life. Anytime I’m feeling down he knows just how to raise me up again. He does that for everyone around him. He has 3 jobs and is working on a home for his soon-to-be wife, her daughter, and their child on the way. With all that work on the brain, I know that he needs something to help him relax.

I believe that he would love to have a tensile tent, the stingray in particular looks cool. I know he loves the outdoors and something like a tent suspended above the ground would definitely make for an awesome bonding experience with his future step-daughter and his son once he’s older.

  10. I would love to nominate my brother Jeremiah. He is a single father raising my nephew and showing him the love of outdoors. He is doing a awesome job as single parent and Im so proud of him. He has sadly raised his son on his own since he was little over 1 yr old and my nephew is now turning 7 in Jan and growing into a fine young boy. I would love to surprise him with warm gloves for snowboarding Rossignol Nailbiter Ski and Snowboard Glove would be awesome!

  11. I nominate my mom, Michelle.

She lost her father to dementia last month, right before his birthday (which was on Thanksgiving this year). She lost her mother to a stroke a year prior. She’s been dealing with post-surgery healing of torn rotator cuffs on both shoulders in recent years, and is now mostly back to normal function-wise. She’s had a rough couple of years both physically and emotionally and could use some more nature-oriented time.

She has a kayak that she got right before her shoulder injuries and hasn’t even gotten a chance to take out yet! So, I’m guessing she’d love to get the Ruffwear K-9 Float Coats for her dogs so they can safely join in the fun, Buff Sport Series Water Gloves for hand protection, and maybe some good UPF-rated tops for under her PFD.

  12. I would like to nominate Wes, he works tirelessly serving his country in the Navy. He volunteers in his spare time and is always to willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors with any chores or grunt work. Wes mentioned that his excitement for Christmas has dwindled because being in the service often keeps him away from his family and friends. He would like a Patagonia Men’s Lightweight Synchilla Snap-T Pullover in black.

  13. I would like to nominate my Dad. He has been an active member of his sportsman’s club for over 20 years. He’s not just a member, he volunteers there as well, From helping with Hunter Safety classes, raising money through making and donating his chili when there are events, helping push through improvements (and helping build) additions to the club that brought it from being a pole barn with a kitchen to a much larger building with a better kitchen. He’s spent hundreds of hours mowing the lawns there and the work he’s put into the club has helped bring more people there to enjoy the facilities. He also has a friend with terminal cancer (who is a member of the club) who has good days and bad days. Dad has been helping his friend hunt. Someone gave them an old trailer, and Dad fixed it/outfitted it so his friend can hunt and it’s not so tiring/taxing on this health. Dad is always on the go, but in Spring/Summer/Fall he will spend early morning/late evening sitting in the back yard and enjoying the sound of the outdoors/relaxing in the back yard. I don’t know what Dad would choose, because I’m not sure what he needs…but I think he’d like the ENO Lounger Chair.

  14. I would like to nominate Lauren. She is the sweetest person I’ve ever met and would do anything for anyone. She has been going through some bad times and hasn’t been able to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. She is finally getting better after a long hard battle and is so excited to go camping and hiking again. If she is the winner of the gift, she would love to buy the tentsile stingray. She has been wanting one since she discovered them online probably two years ago.

  15. I would like to nominate Joe. He has overcome many struggles in his life, and he loves fishing and hunting. He’s currently not working and for him to have a gift certificate to buy hunting or fishing gear would be a positive thing in his life right now.

  16. I nominate Gena. Gena just had a baby 2 weeks ago and is also a mother to a 4 year old with a disease called Dravet Syndrome which is lifelong uncontrollable seizures with a high mortality rate. Gena has to spend a fortune on her 4 year old for her basic needs for her condition since insurance has changed so much and will not pay for items needed by this special child. Gena;s 4 year old is hospitalized at least once every 2-3 months to stop her cluster of seizures and each time she has to pay a $250 co-pay for the ER and if admitted to the hospital an extra $300 co-pay for admission. Since Gena’s girls come first she would never spend much money at all on herself so the Patagonia sweater jacket would be the perfect item for her.

  17. I’d like to nominate Candy. She has dumped her Kayak 2x and is still game. She would like the Windburner Stove System and the Ruffwear K-9 Float Coat for the poor Dog. Thanks for the Chance.

  18. I would love to nominate my son, Mark. For the past six years, Mark has been so instrumental in reaching out to members of our community whose family members have been affected by addiction. He makes himself available by phone, in person, and reaching out to schools and community leaders to share what he has gone through in the hopes of touching even one life at a time. I’m so proud of how far my son has come and to think that his focus is in helping others on a daily basis, all while juggling a wonderful career and home life, makes me feel that there are still young adults who are paying it forward by reaping what they sow. I think he would love the Fishpond Saratoga Hanging Toiletry Bag for when he travels.

  19. I would like to nominate Gabe Gold. He abandoned his spinning tackle in favor of fly fishing about 10 years ago. He’s a hard working recovery driver who rescues unfortunate travelers on I80 day and night. On his few weekends off he wade fishes the Green in Seedskadee in the middle of Wyoming winters. Can’t get much more hardcore than that. I’m sure he’d put some streamers or a stripping basket to good use. Luv ya, son.

  20. I nominate Incy. She decided to take the brave step to become a new mom to a young teenager with special issues last year when she got married, and she has totally embraced being a wonderful, kind, supportive mother to her new stepson. She’s also recently embraced fly fishing (esp. tenkara), and she would love a chance to continue exploring this new world with her family.

  21. I nominate Kayla.
She works very hard to help others and doesn’t get to treat herself to anything that she would want.
She would like the Patagonia Women’s Full-Zip Re-Tool Jacket to replace her worn out jacket.

  22. I would like to nominate Larry Five Coats. Larry is has participated in Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing for years. He has given of his time and helping guys at the Denver VA, teaching them fly tying, helping many of the Veterans within PHWFF. He’s a bit under the weather now and could use a nice pick me up to raise his spirits. Perhaps a 3wt would be a nice lift or maybe a nymphing rod?

  23. I would like to nominate Richard H. I have known Richard for over 40 years. He is a wonderful friend. Richard is always there to help me and his other friends. He is a wonderful friend, father, son, brother and husband. Richard is a caregiver for his mother. He helps with her shopping, healthcare decisions, driving her places, and many other things. When is daughter was growing up he volunteered to help raise money for her school, her swim meets, which he attended and took her on father-daughter camping trips with other father and daughters. Richard helps and volunteers with many different charities. Richard would love some outdoor clothes like shoes, jackets, and t-shirts.

  24. I nominate Tricia , a single mother of two boys who is fighting breast cancer. They would appreciate apparel for winter for the boys. Fighting the cancer is difficult enough but wondering how to get gifts for your children is an extra burden.

  25. Leading up to my friend Melissa K’s 40th birthday (12-2-16), she let her friends and family know that her wish was for them to do 40 acts of kindness. She is always spreading joy, doing kind things for others, and never looks for anything in return. She would love a Patagonia Sweater Jacket or a hammock.

  26. I nominate Eric Marvel
Why? Becasue everytime we go on an outdoor adventure he always helps me put up my hammock & rain tarp i purchased from avidmax & always helps me take it down but doenst have one of his own, i want him to experience the comfort your products provides, he works so hard for his family & always helping out strangers & friends, he is a perfect candidate.
I think he would be so happy to receive a hammock & straps, maybe even a one link hammock system.

  27. I nominate my wife, Becky. She works hard 6 days a week to provide for us. In what little bit of free time she has she enjoys going muddin in her 1988 Jeep Wrangler and she LOVES fishing. She would love anything for camping and fishing.

  28. I would like to nominate my fiance, Kevin. He works so hard to provide for our 11 month old daughter and me. I know he’d like to be home more with our daughter, but he works hard so that I can stay home with her, and so we don’t have to put her in daycare all day. I think he would like the Fishpond Voormi CO-Lab Men’s High-E Hoodie in XL. Thank you!

  29. I nominate Angel, one of the greatest spirits I now, who goes out of there way to help me and others with anything they ask. I cannot count how many times I have needed an extra hand, or just someone to tag along with me while I go on my crazy adventures, and they are always right there and ready to go! It helps that Angel is a great cook too…keeps us going on those long treks out in the wild! Speaking of which, I know one thing that would make Angel very happy, and would also make me happy if I am around when it is being used, and that is the Windburner Stove System!

  30. I nominate Jason he is a veteran who has helped many in their time of need. He never ask for anything in return always tries to bless others. He will do without so others can have what they need. I would like to be able to bless him in return for all he has done for others.

      1. Jason could use stuff for the winter like the Korkers Extreme Ice Cleat 28 Studs.
